Interview- Medieval
Interviewing a Knight
"Why did you want to be a knight?"
"I wanted to be a knight to serve my king and to be loyal to my country."
"What does it take to be a knight?"
"It takes lots of courage, strength, bravery, discipline, and the ability to fight."
"Have you gotten any injuries while fighting?"
" I lost my head once, but I managed to sew it back on before the next round."
"Wow! What were your first thoughts after you lost your head?"
"My first thought was 'Oh no! The world is turning upside down!' But after that I was glad I lost my head for my country.

Political, Medieval
Yesterday morning the king, claming that too many knights have been badly injured or killed by being struck during jousting touornaments, passed a law requiring a blunted tip secured onto each lance before being used in a tournament. "My goal," says the king, " is to keep my knights as protected as possible at all times, even when they are entertaining themselves."

Children's Crusade
In France a shepherd boy named Stephen, led 30,000 children trying to get to Palestine. No one knows how the children's crusade got started, but it was seen as a sign from God. As they traveled to the Mediterranean port many died of hunger and disease, and some went back home. Those that arrived at the port had trouble finding passage to Palestine. The children prayed but found no answer to their prayers. Finally some merchants came and said they would take them to Palestine. However, they were instead taken to Egypt where they were sold into slavery. Now parents want answers.- Kim F.
